Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party access places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
